Hopewell’s work draws on inspiration from everyday life, both internal and external. A conversation, a song, a work of art, a mundane work meeting, love, sex, the looming prospect of death, past lives, the energy of nature, cosmic wonder, societal norms, passion, healing, travel, and experiences both small and infinite. All of these provoke emotions and thoughts — an internal dialogue. And it’s in the observation of those—what they mean, what they don’t — where the poems begin to take shape.
